The New Archangel Dancers is a group of women who dance together for the joy of it. We are not professional dancers, yet we enjoy participating in the performing arts. We encourage everyone who is interested to be involved in the performing arts.

The New Archangel Dancers are offering two $1000.00 scholarships to applicants who demonstrate an avid interest in the performing arts. Although transcripts are required, a successful applicant need not have a superior grade point average. One scholarship is intended for a senior or graduate of Sitka High School (including Pacific High School and Sitka School District Home School Program) and one for a senior or graduate of Mt. Edgecumbe High School.

The term Performing Arts describes a person using their body to create a vision or send a message. Traditionally this includes dancers, singers, instrumentalists, and actors. We also encourage choreographers, stage crews, playwrights, composers, debaters, and teachers of the performing arts to apply.

Who Should Apply: Any Senior or graduate of either Sitka High School (including Pacific High School and Sitka School District Home School Program) or Mt. Edgecumbe High School who can demonstrate an avid interest in the performing arts.

Requirements:

  1. a completed application

  2. three recommendations (see form for details)

  3. a copy of current transcripts

  4. finalists will participate in an interview with the committee

  5. an audition will be given before the scholarship committee

Amount: Two $1000.00 scholarships will be given. Money will be submitted directly to any postsecondary educational program in any area of study and used for tuition and/or related expenses.

Deadline: Paperwork is due Thursday, March 13, 2008 by 3:00 p.m. in either the Sitka High School Counseling Office or Mt Edgecumbe High School Counseling Office.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Specific audition times will be assigned to applicants by the committee.
